Pre-School Facilities
At Rotherfield Pre-School, we believe that children learn best in an inspiring environment where they feel safe, confident and excited to explore. Our carefully planned learning spaces, both indoors and outdoors, provide endless opportunities for children to discover, create, imagine and develop through play. Every area of our setting has been designed to support the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum while encouraging curiosity, independence and a lifelong love of learning.
Our bright and welcoming pre-school room is thoughtfully organised into a variety of learning areas that encourage children to explore at their own pace. From creative arts and crafts to imaginative role play, construction, small world play, reading and sensory activities, our resources are carefully selected to promote communication, problem-solving, creativity and social development. Children are encouraged to make independent choices throughout the day, helping them build confidence and develop essential life skills in a nurturing and supportive environment.
Outdoor learning is an important part of life at Rotherfield Pre-School. We are fortunate to have access to a spacious outdoor play area where children can enjoy fresh air and active play every day. Our garden includes opportunities for climbing, balancing, cycling, sand and water play, gardening, mud kitchen activities and open-ended exploration, allowing children to develop their physical skills while building resilience, confidence and teamwork.
One of the unique features of our pre-school is our regular Forest School sessions. Set within our dedicated woodland area, these experiences encourage children to connect with nature through hands-on learning, exploration and carefully managed risk-taking. Whether building dens, hunting for mini beasts, observing seasonal changes or developing practical outdoor skills, Forest School nurtures curiosity, resilience, confidence and a deep appreciation of the natural world.
We also make full use of our wonderful village location. Children regularly enjoy supervised walks and visits within the local community, including the recreation ground, nearby woodland and other outdoor spaces. These experiences broaden children's understanding of the world around them while promoting physical wellbeing, confidence and respect for their local environment.
Our close partnership with the neighbouring Scout Hut further enhances the learning opportunities we can offer. This additional space allows children to participate in activities such as sensory circuits, physical education sessions, movement-based learning and specialist workshops, supporting the development of balance, coordination, gross motor skills and overall wellbeing.
Every resource, activity and learning space at Rotherfield Pre-School has been chosen with children's development in mind. By combining stimulating indoor environments, exciting outdoor adventures and enriching community experiences, we create a well-rounded learning journey that supports every child's social, emotional, physical and cognitive development. Our facilities provide the ideal foundation for children to become confident, capable learners who are well prepared for their transition to primary school.
