Year 6 Residential - May 2024
Monday 20th May
Despite the delayed start the group had a good journey, enjoyed the ferry crossing and arrived safely at the Kingswood Site. They have organised their bedrooms, eaten a good dinner and are enjoying their evening activity of 'Mini Olympics'.
Tuesday 21st May
Everyone had a good nights sleep, and were wide awake early to start their day! We started the day with bush craft skills by making fires. Next was a beautiful but steep cliff top walk where Miss Bishop had planned ahead and treated everyone to ice lollies. The afternoon started with archery and later a fun speedy zip wire. Children are loving the food and are all attempting every activity - every the scary ones! We still have a camp fire left to enjoy this evening.
Wednesday 22nd May
The fresh air and activity packed days are certainly having an effect - the teachers had to wake several children for breakfast this morning! Today we enjoyed working as a team on the obstacle course ..... and then the scary stuff started! The outdoor tower climb; the 3G swing; and the leap of faith! The children were amazing, facing the challenges and often exceeding their own expectations. Tonight the fun continues with a disco!
Thursday 23rd May
We started today building shelters for mice, before upscaling and building constructions using heavy branches. Next was the blindfold nightline that started off in the open field but turned into an obstacle course. The afternoon was spent on the beach, building creative sandcastles with friends. Later tonight will be scrap heap challenge before we spend out last night away.
