Year 6 Residential Trip May 2022

On Monday 23rd May 2022 the year 6 class are heading to the Isle of Wight for a week of fun and outdoor learning. Each evening we will attempt to update this page - providing the internet connection cooperates!

 Monday 23rd

1.30pm update They had a very good journey down to Portsmouth so stopped at Gunwharf Key for a toilet break and lunch. Spirit's remaining high and they seem to have left the rain behind for now!

3.30pm update: They have all arrived safely and the sun is shining. Their first challenge will be to make their own beds, later this afternoon half of them wil be tackling the climbing wall while the other half build buggys. This is followed by dinner and then a whole group activity.

 Tuesday 24th

8am The children enjoyed their first evening of activities, including giant twister. It took them a while to get to sleep and some of them were up very early! They have already enjoyed a good breakfast and have gone back to tidy their rooms and play basketball before the days activities start.

4.30pm update Today they have swapped over the the other groups have completed the climbing wall and the buggy building. They have also had a go at archery, the big 3g swing and aeroball (a bit like volleyball but on trampolines!) Mrs Modjesch was very competitive apparantly. The weather has been good and they are all enjoying themselves. Tonight they were due to go to the beach but it is high tide so that has been moved to a day activity later on in the week and they are having a movie night with cake to celebrate Olivia's birthday!

Wednesday 25th

8,30 update. Change of plan last night - they made the most the of weather and enjoyed some 'Mini Olympics' outside while the weather was good. They were all tired so early night all round. They slept well and are looking forward to another day of activites.

3.30 They have had a good day today, tackling the obstacle course and making fires being two of the highlights. They had a tidy room competition and I think there was room for improvement in many dorms!! They are all well and enjoying themselves. The weather has been a bit gloomy today but still dry.

Thursday 26th

They have really enjoyed their last full day at Kingswood tackling the nightline - blindfolded and using the giant lego amongst other things. Tonight they are hoping to have a camp fire. They will complete a couple of activities first thing tomorrow morning before heading home.

New photos added including the second half of the group had a go at the 3g swing, and some children also completed Jacob's ladder.

Friday 27th

Last night they had a brilliant time round the camp fire singing songs and an awards ceremony. They are all very tired but have enjoyed the week. We will keep you updated with news of their return time - at the moment it is estimated to be around 5.30pm

They had had a good morning abseiling and fencing. They are now on the coach heading for the ferry port - a tired, grubby but very happy. Some of them were asking to stay for longer!
